Danny,
It has been a very long and hard year without you. There have been so many times that I have longed to hear your voice.
We often talked, but we didn't talk, You told me your problems, but you didn't tell me the important problems. I knew when you were happy, but you never told me how unhappy you really were. I am so sorry that you had so much pain and heartache. I wish there was something I could have done to prevent it. Please know that where ever you are that I miss you as high as the sky. O Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so.
Your loving mom

My favorite memory of Danny (my cousin) was always when he stayed with us. I was little and he was soooo much fun! We would play hide and seek. I thought I was the best hider, but later I realized Danny probably had a drink before he started looking for me. LOL Danny was one of the sweetest, kindest men I ever knew, even as a young girl, I realized how special he was.

Danny, it’s been a little over two months since you’ve been gone and there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t thought of you and missed you so deeply. My heart hurts every time I think I won’t ever get to hear your voice or your laughter again or even your ranting! I wish I could get one of your bear hugs that practically cracked my spine but made me feel so loved. If there is some spirit that could beam you a message, it would be that I’m so sorry we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye and that I will always regret not knowing you were in such pain.
I love you and wish I could turn back time, Your loving Schnizz

I have many memories of my nephew Danny. One of my favorite was when he told me he was kicked out of his favorite casino. We were having lunch at that same casino and he had told me because he knew the owner they let him back in. Danny had accumulated a lot of comp that he would have lost if the owner wasn't nice enough to allow Danny entrance. Apparently, Some guy sat next to Danny while he was playing a machine and lit up a cigarette blowing smoke in Danny's face, Danny asked him if he wouldn't mind putting the cigarette out in as much as he can't take the smoke. The guy ignored Danny's request, so Dan stood up and smacked the guy in the back of the head, knocking the guys hat off his head. Security escorted him out barring him from the casino. He called the owner and promise to behave himself, so the owner allowed him to come back in.

I will never forget Kim and my girl's trip to Vegas, in part to visit my sister and hang by a hotel pool, but also to see Elizabeth and Danny Boy. Of course he had a plan for us to all meet-up and go see some 80's tribute band which they loved. It turned into quite a fun and wild night and I think we were all "ruined" for days afterwards! One of the most memorable memories I have of Danny Boy...

Danny Boy...I'll forever remember your comments on sports, gambling and general humanity, using terms and phrases so unique, with profanity so poetic...I'll never look at a video poker machine the same way again and I've never heard anyone use the terms F...knuckle, butt cheese and loser in the same sentence and have it make perfect sense...thank you for some of the best laughs of my life.

Uncle Danny was one of a kind! While many knew him for his jokes or incredible bar tending skills, I was fortunate enough to know the softer, big, goofy teddy bear side of him. Uncle Danny and Elizabeth welcomed me to Las Vegas as their family. I always had a seat at their table with a nice glass of wine and a great steak dinner waiting for me. Uncle Danny and I bonded over Detroit sports and especially the Lions. We’ve shared many laughs over his countless jokes and impressions. What a warm hearted man who I am so fortunate to have known. Rest in Paradise, Uncle Danny - I’ll take one of your famous Lemondrop martinis when we meet again. Love, “ShanaBanana”

I'll miss that kook! At least I scored one free drink off him when I stumped him with a joke he didn't know! It cracked him up too...the old Sven and Inga joke...a visual one. Inga sends Sven down the hill to fix their mailbox and he discovers that he doesn't have his hammer. The hijinks and punchline really got Danny Boy. He probably has St. Peter on the floor laughing right about now!

Aunt Connie & Uncle Bill, Elizabeth, Kim & Jeff, Zack and Jessie,
Our hearts hurt for you and we are sorry for your loss. We hope that happy memories of Danny bring you comfort and peace.
Danny was always fun to be around and was so quick-witted. You could count on laughing when you were around him.
I couldn't wait to grow up so I could spend the summer in Petoskey with my cool, older cousins Kim and Danny. Sadly, that never happened because our grandparents moved from Petoskey before I was old enough to do so.
The first time Danny met my husband we were in a car with his mom and dad, stopped at a crosswalk in downtown Santa Barbara. Danny saw us, came up to the car, yelled something and grabbed my husband's arm through the open window. He scared the heck out of all of us! But, how we laughed when our hearts started to beat again!
I remember introducing my kids to Danny at a family wedding and he told them that they should call him Uncle Fester, and that his name was not really Danny. I had to explain to my kids that they did not have an Uncle Fester several times that weekend and his name really was Danny. I still smile when I think about that.
I will miss seeing Danny when we go to Vegas. He knew where to go for the best video poker machines. We would play and split any winnings, but he always seemed to pick the luckiest machine. I'd like to think that he somewhere playing video poker with my dad and mom and the rest of our family that is no longer with us.
I am so glad that I had a chance to catch up with him a few months ago. We laughed over an old photo and he thanked me for sending it because he forgot what it was like to have hair.
He will be missed.

My daughter, Kris, and I send our love to you Connie & Bill and all the family! It was so fun to get to meet Danny a couple of years ago. I had looked forward to seeing him again - he such was a very nice and funny guy! Elizabeth, we've never met, but I know what it is like to loose your loved one and my thoughts are with you as well. Kris and I want Danny's memory to continue and to grow so we donated 100 trees to the National Forest Foundation. Whenever you are among the trees, remember the new sprouts will be growing in Dan's honor, so never forget to hug a beautiful little tree!
