Obituary of Martha Joan McLean

Martha Joan (Lucas) McLean, age 96, died on November 2, 2021 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born in Nevada, Missouri on January 5, 1925 to George Campbell Lucas and Cora Margaret (Brooks) Lucas. Joan married Joseph Donald McLean on December 3, 1941. They moved to California on December 7, 1941; the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. She and Joe raised two daughters, Beverly Joe (Julien) and Elizabeth Ann (Sanders) in Southern California. They had a love for travel and managed to visit all 50 states. Joan was known to be the life of the party. Entertaining was her strength and she loved entertaining people in her home. Her love of jewelry was obvious by the way she proudly decorated herself daily. Joan was an avid card player, although she could not be trusted to keep score. She was very proud of her longevity and leaves us with many years of fond memories. Left to remember Joan is her stepsister Jeanette (Lucas) Trammell; her Daughter, Elizabeth Ann (McLean) Sanders; her 4 grandchildren; Donald Julien, Kristie Diane Julien, Michele Elizabeth (Sanders) Gilbert and Michael Thomas Sanders; her 4 great grandchildren; Dirrick Anthony Christensen, Aaron Daniel Maassen, Brody Michael Sanders, Presley Jade Sanders; and 1 great great grandchild, Alleigh Jean Shockley. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; George Campbell Lucas and Cora Margaret Lucas, her sister Mary Margaret (Lucas) King, her husband Joseph Donald McLean; and her daughter Beverly Joe (McLean) Julien. Martha Joan McLean will be celebrated with a small private gathering at her granddaughter’s home in Arizona.
