Obituary of Michael David Ybarra, Jr

Mike “Sonny” Ybarra was born in Canoga Park, CA and had many great stories of spending time at his grandmothers ranch in Castaic, CA. He attended Canoga Park HS, where he enjoyed playing football. He joined the Airforce during The Korean War and was stationed at Kimpo AF Base with The 67th Tactical Recon Wing. When he returned, he attended Pierce JC. He was working as a mailman when he met Sharon Wray, his wife of 61 years. They had 2 children Michael and Sheri. He worked for Rocketdyne for 30 years and retired in 1986. They moved to Lake Los Angeles, CA and spent 2 years in CO before moving to Kingman, AZ where they lived for 12 years. The last few years were spent residing in North Las Vegas, NV. Mike enjoyed camping and visiting his Air Force buddies, family, friends and National Parks. Always smiling, never complaining. He was deeply loved and will be missed. He had a great love for family and ability to express it. Mike is also survived by Michael's wife Stephanie, Sheri’s husband Dave, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice or VFW.org (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or nationalparks.org. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2021.
