Mom,
They say we are not the ones who choose God, but God is the one who calls and chooses us. As children, we do not get to choose our parents - the generation we were born into - who our brothers, sisters, and family will be - our childhood neighborhoods - or even the church we attend as youngsters. God delivers us into those destinies, knowing they will uniquely equip us according to His calling for our life - according to our needs and His more magnificent desire for our life purpose.
As imperfect as I may think God's purpose was at the beginning, God continues to show me the limits of my reasoning. God knew you were the perfect Mom for me. God chose you to bring me into this world, Mom. As difficult as things were for you as a young mother, you stayed in the fight for me. You taught me how to be tough. You made me develop the grit to take on life on its terms. God knew you were the only Mom uniquely able to equip me for the big stuff - the tough stuff life brings to your doorstep. You were the perfect Mom for me, and I thank and praise God that you were my Mom.
