Obituary of Jack Avery

Jack Avery went to be with Our Lord and Savior on October 31, 2021, while surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Glen and Adeline Avery, brother-in-law Calvin Magleby, and grandson Anthony Bolliger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Diana Avery, sister Ginger Magleby, and brother Ronald Avery. Jack had three beautiful daughters, Konnett (Avery) Bolliger, Dominique (Avery) Sargent, and Janet (Avery) Reidhead. He also had three amazing son-in-law‘s, Norman Bolliger, Ted Sargent, and Michael Reidhead. Jack was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and great grand children; Alexandrea Coslett, Kiara Crow, Dakota Sargent, Sabrina Gould, Veronica Peña, Nicholas Bolliger, Michael Coslett , Mikenna Coslett, Madilyn Coslett, and Ezekiel Peña. ◦ Jack was born and raised in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on February 25, 1943. His family moved to Las Vegas in 1957, where he attended and graduated from Rancho High School in 1961. Jack went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1967-1969, where he proudly served in the Vietnam War on the USS Seminole, aka 104. Upon returning from Vietnam, Jack worked in the casino industry as a dealer for the Hacienda Hotel, the MGM Grand, and he opened the Mirage in 1989, where he remained until retirement in 2005. ◦ Jack was an avid sports fan. He supported and loved the UNLV Rebels and was was a season ticket holder for both football and basketball since 1970. Although family, sports, and his career were very important to him, his passion were his Arabian horses. When Jack and Diane moved to the outskirts of Las Vegas in 1964, they built their first Arabian horse ranch. Then in 2005, Jack moved his ranch out to Indian Springs, NV, where he built a state of the art facility for his Arabian horses. ◦ Jack began showing his Arabs at Horseman’s Park in 1982. He went on to serve as the Vice President and President of the NSHA (Nevada State Horseman’s Association), as well as the Arabian Horse Association for several years. Jack was also very active in his community. His presence will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Jack’s Barn at 125 E. Greta Lane in Indian Springs NV at 1pm, Nov 20, 2021.
